Sparking young minds

The Tait Foundation exists to help develop New Zealand’s next generation of STEM talent.

We’re on a mission to increase the number of STEM students throughout the education system in Christchurch and Canterbury, and build the bridges needed to move them into science, engineering and technology careers.

Empowering teachers

From contributing towards classroom resources to developing and delivering specialised teacher education programmes, we help teachers to motivate, inspire and engage with their students.

Inspiring students

Ultimately, our work is all about encouraging students of all ages to get excited by STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We want today’s young people to develop an appreciation for knowledge, a talent for problem-solving and the desire to pursue a science or tech-based career.

Inspired by the legacy of Sir Angus Tait.

We are associated with but independent from New Zealand’s leading radio electronics company, Tait Communications. Sir Angus Tait was a lifelong proponent of science education and had a genuine love of inspiring curiosity in young people.

"I love making cool stuff. Science lets me do that."

Funding is now open.

We exist to support learning initiatives in science, technology, engineering and maths, and are especially interested in hearing from new applicants.

We are particularly focussed on activities in Christchurch and Canterbury.
