Sparking young minds
The Tait Foundation exists to help develop New Zealand’s next generation of STEM talent.
We’re on a mission to increase the number of STEM students throughout the education system in Christchurch and Canterbury, and build the bridges needed to move them into science, engineering and technology careers.
Empowering schools, organisations and teachers
From helping to fund classroom and programme resources, to developing and delivering specialised teacher education programmes, we help schools and organisations motivate, inspire and engage with their students.
Inspiring students of all backgrounds, ages and levels
Ultimately, our work is all about encouraging a wide range of students to get excited by STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We want today’s young people to develop an appreciation for knowledge, a talent for problem-solving and the desire to pursue a science or tech-based career.
Inspired by the legacy of Sir Angus Tait.
We are associated with but independent from New Zealand’s leading radio electronics company, Tait Communications. Sir Angus Tait was a lifelong proponent of science education and had a genuine love of inspiring curiosity in young people.
"Learning to use technology gives students a huge sense of confidence and unlocks a future they didn’t know was possible."
– Technology teacher Colin Powick, Kahikatea Kirkwood Intermediate
